He married Stella Smearer 26 December 1934 in Towner County, North Dakota, United States of America, daughter of Alexander Smearer and Alice Nancy Harrison. She was born 7 December 1917 in Sarles, Cavalier County, North Dakota, United States of America and died 18 July 2008 in Devils Lake, Ramsey County, North Dakota, United States of America.
